in which we needle felt, and one thing leads to another.

One evening last week I put aside all the other things I should have been working on for Christmas, and pulled out some roving and the Kaatje's felting needles.  I had found the idea for these toadstools and needed to make them for the girls, to put in their wooden shoes with the chocolate coins for Sinterklaas.  I managed to get both of them made during a single episode of dr. who (Jeff's and my recent addiction), but the girls and I really finished them the next morning after the they got them.

Which was just as much of the fun, since I did the harder work of starting, and Kaatje got to finish hers, making it just right.  The tutorial, and some seriously cute examples, are here at the Living Crafts blog.

Do you see that little guy peeking out from the plants behind the toadstools?  Kaatje just kept going with the needle pointing that morning...

and made this little guy for the season.

...though these days we're having unseasonable weather really more particular to ducks.  (which is fine by me, thank you very much!)
