We did Sinterklaas this year, for the first time! All we did was put their little wooden shoes out (with a carrot in each, of course), then I made them a little felted gift and gave them some chocolate coins. As "homeschool" we read about Sinterklaas and watched some videos of him arriving in Amsterdam, and made spekulaas cookies. Big fun! ... and if you don't have a fireplace, you put the shoes by the back door, as far as I understand (via wiki ;)
