in which we visit the Winter Carnival, and freeze our toes.

we made a spur-of-the-moment-last-minute decision, inspired by sunny weather and a touch of cabin fever, to go to the St. Paul Winter Carnival Saturday afternoon::

there we:
: saw sparkling ice sculptures (newly carved for the morning's competition)
: bought lunch from the food trucks
: but ate inside
: went out to wait for the parade
: decided the biggest parade fun was: hot air balloon fires (there were at least 3 different floats of them), bouncing girls, and unicycles
: left the parade before it was finished, bought hot mini-doughnuts, and spent a while (bouncing, sometimes) in the science museum warming our toes

(...laundry and bread baking waited until today just fine.)
