we are Reformed Christian unschoolers with attachment parenting tendencies...
we bake our own bread and build our own computers, try to shop used, eat locally, and question the norm. we read the Heidelberg Catechism, Cradle to Cradle, and the Omnivore's Dilemma, and attempt to practice what we preach (especially with our kids...)
we are both, Jeff and I, born and raised mid-westerners, having some ideas from all over.
once upon a time I got degrees in art and math.
my art emphases were photography and ceramics.
my math emphasis was being a geek and marrying an engineer (and getting through real analysis with no permanent harm).
I have been a desk jockey for an insurance co, a bank teller, a professional photographer and now full time mom and homeschooler. I'm a autodidactic crafter, crocheter, newbie knitter, and have been a mediocre long-distance runner for more than half my life.
we live in a little town a stones' throw from a big city, where we walk to the rivers and wave to the neighbors. in the big city we pay for parking and see fancy museums, exciting plays, and toy stores filled with wonder.
we love our going-on-100-year-old house, which is a labor of love and full of our own personality. we (mostly) hate grass, and have removed all of our lawn that we don't actively use. we love handmade, even if it takes more time. we love our sparkly, spunky girls and our fuzz on four legs. we love games, books, handwork, sunny windows, sharp colored pencils, pointy scissors, trips to the coffee shop down the street, and all the little quiet and big noisy things that make our home.
we love and believe in one Truth.
we love teaching our children that we're here for a Reason...
and it's bigger than them, and us.
