to Frodo and Bilbo!
I couldn't let the day go by without a mention.
We last read the Hobbit to the girls when we were camping last fall (a year ago already?! *sigh*), and I think Tolkien would have approved: all of us snuggled into sleeping bags, listening to the sounds of the outdoor night, reading Bilbo's adventures. Wow, my voice was sore after all that dramatic reading in a bad British accent, as quietly as possible so as not to disturb other campers. Dragon Voices are terrible for the vocal cords.
Whilst I bemoan not camping, you can enjoy this link to some fun Hobbit activities from Wired's Geek Dad: Happy Hobbit Day!
(We probably do #1 most of all (bread and cheese. um, yes, thank you).
...and I highly recommend you do not click on the #4 link. ;)

you were right, i really shouldn't have clicked on #4. my whole life is ruined because i know nothing will be better than what i just watched.
ReplyDeletemy comments upon viewing that link were, in the following order: "is that?. . .no, it's not. . .yes?....agh! yes!. . . but WHY? . . . what are they doing?!! . . .no. . . No. . . NO!... aaaahmakeitstop!!!"
ReplyDeletepretty much. a day later "Why?!" is still my resounding question.
it's leonard nemoy singing about bilbo baggins. i don't care about anything else. all questions are moot. the song has been playing in my head the last 12 hours, and i, for one, hope it never stops.
